Hello!

Name's Rav. Not the one I was born with but it's what you've got to contend with here ;)

A veteran from mutual site over at LPF where I met the (Quills) Admin (before she was Mrs Jack White). I used to be known as the resident 'ranter' over there (specifically about a certain someone, but not anymore) however these days I rant sporadically. You've been warned. Highly opinionated, rather pedantic, sometimes prolific, sometimes just an idjit, I'm probably the oldest member here (and likely to be for a while at least), hence the 'Mum' thing. Oh that, and long story short, I 'adopted' several LPF members into my dysfunctional family over there over the years, and now it's sort of grown beyond those realms and crossed over into different areas - not quite in a John Edwards way, but we're working on that *lol*

So, in case you're blind, ignorant or just didn't notice, I'm a huge Disturbed fan (Yay, David!!). Diss them and answer to me. Ask The Admin ;) I like lots of other bands too but am too old to care for genres *shrug* I'm not buying into mainstream, sell outs and so on debates. Tell someone who cares really. But I still like LP, HIM, NIN, FM (in fact a lot of names you can abbreviate!) but stacks more, too many to mention here. Depends on my mood really. Have many tatts, love body art, a bit of a spiritualist when the mood strikes (don't confuse me with a tree-hugging Hippie, I am not one, far from it, in fact, almost other side of that) but I can accept other's different beliefs - not my place to judge really. Love to write, and am generally known for my very long Fan Fics that have been spanning years in creation, and no doubt when I get inspired you'll get to know that side of my inner bard too; never say never.

So I could keep going, but the more I add the more it's starting to sound like an add for a lonely hearts club -I like walking in the rain and long walks on the beach and- *lmao* but seriously, I'm better leaving the intro's short. Short-ish anyway. You'll see me around no doubt. Want to know something, just ask. Over time we'll get to know one another. I may like you. I may not. Time (and so on) will only tell, huh? Hahaha.

Peace wink

Actually, I think when I met you, you were still Mrs Maynard Keenan - or Mrs Corgan, or Mr Darcy whatever the hell her names was, or the equally sexually ambiguous Mr/Mrs/Thingy Brian Molko... I don't recall Jack being in that circle of your fascinations for ages. Maybe it was in the background, but during our many long winded convos, Jack just wasn't as important then as he is now, hense my above comment ;)

Oh and while I think of it; hi back XD

Nice introduction, you seem like a great person. We also seem to like the same kind of music, not to mention that I write all kinds of stuff too, including fanfics. wink

Btw, I wonder if it's only a coincidence that "moi" is also a common slang term in Finland for "hey"? confuse

Thanks guys. I'm not generally a comedian in real life (ask Sarah, I'm rather serious and introspective) but here online I just come alive... rather like Frankenstein's monster! (Weird analogy that, and I didn't even have to rob graves or sell the rights to some sad Hollywood screenwriter to turn it into a greater piece of.. excrement to become what I am today - fortunate for me then ;)) Thanks for the compliments. Hey, thanks even more so for just reading it! I wonder when I start typing what crap is going to come purging itself out for the whole world to see... this is as much a social experiment (in randomness) for me as it is for you!

@ Jon2 - Thanks for the compliment! I don't take them well, you wouldn't know I'm actually a shy lil creature, but for all intents and purposes I'll pretend to be meaner than I am if it makes people behave - and makes me feel bigger, or something stupid like that XD. No, I didn't know that about 'moi' in Finnish - I just thought I was being clever. Clearly, I'm still being educated. For that I give you my grattitude. And the fact you have great taste in music means I like you even more than I might have before! What luck I say! Looking forward to reading some of your fanfics one day  *hint-hint*

@ Sponge - aww, I don't have a bad side. Sarah (Admin) would tell you I'm bad regardless (I can only imagine) but no, I might be temperamental and moody and bad tempered and loud mouthed and independant and... what the hell was I talking about again? Haha - oh yeah, I'm a nice person once you get to know me, seriously! *lol* Thanks again ;)

@ Matt - *does stupid wave back - but no accompanying dance, I can't even clap in rhythm, sad but true* Thanks for the kind words to you too, sir. But no yours didn't suck! It probably wasn't deep (or as... 'different' shall we say) as mine, but hey, maybe you're playing the mysterious card, being all secretive and stuff like a secret agent. Me, I like to be upfront and honest from the start; what you see is what you get. Don't like it, look elsewhere, frankly. But I get not everyone's like that. And that's a blessing sometimes. See, now if your intro was exactly the same as mine this whole post now to you would have been pointless cause there would have been nothing to talk about, see! You've got to look at the bigger picture, see? Hahaha.

@ Speedy - aww, now that was just sweet. Not sure what I rule, but it sounds good, so I'll take it! May I rule fairly and justly; with a swift hand and iron fist!! Haha, no. I'm behaving myself now. Silliness has to end at somepoint. I think I'm sleep deprived. You like it? 0.0 Hey, thanks man. Much appreciated :)

Well, I honestly doubt I'll ever show my fanfics to anyone anymore. The first is a Harry Potter one I wrote when I was 9, it's written in my utterly bad handwriting (I didn't have a computer back then and even now I'm the only one in my family to use one) and the plot is like as terrible as you can imagine, no originality... biggrin (I'm glad I've changed during the last 5 years!) The second one is related to an ice-hockey novel series, written by a Swedish reporter, so I doubt you'd be able to concentrate on it without reading the previous parts. It's better than the HP one though, as I finished it 2 years ago.

I am, however, a bit more assertive on the book I'm writing right now, which isn't a fanfic, but a novel about 5 teenagers who decide to form a band. One of the characters is like a clear reflection of me, and that's what makes writing the book so interesting in my opinion - it's partly fiction, partly almost like a diary. Sadly, it hasn't made much progress lately, but no worries, I just have to be hopeful that good things take time to finish. I'm writing the book in Finnish, and every now and then I'm also translating it to English, so if you want to take a sneak peek at what it's like, I'll be happy to show what I got so far. smile

Until you start liking me too much, lol, I must say that I listen to over a 60 different bands/artists, and even though the ones you mentioned belong in those, they aren't necessarily the ones I prefer. But yeah, as a person who listen to all forms of rock and is able to enjoy most of the other genres out there too (and especially crossover music, preferrably the mix of different rock genres and rap), I see no reason why a fan of those bands wouldn't like me. wink

Also, for being meaner than you really are in order to make people listen, not being humoristic in real life and having a bit of a shy characture, I can relate to you too. I've always been some sort of a freak and shy. Not even mentioning my mood changes which are sometimes so crazy that I don't even dare to use teenage as an excuse. biggrin

But, now I'm stealing your thread, so back on topic - bow to the all-mighty Ravyn! worship.gifxd.gif

effectively mine was like Hi, im me, lol. it was bad, should have left some bread crumbs or summit, should have been more like "Hi, Im Matt. I have hobbies, i see dead people and my parents are aliens" though i don't so many people would be so open with that, lol. I wouldn't say Frankenstein's monster, more like a fish to water. ooo, its funny you should mention the whole clapping in rythem, i cant do that either, note im now waiting for a Sarah *facepalm* comment, lmao

You guys make me laugh out loud for real - so entertaining!
Thanks! Jon2, seriously buddy, I don't mind what music you're into, it's the person I like or don't like, not the music I form friendships with. Ask Jack, I don't care for her bands at all, but I tolerate them (she could say the same thing about me!) As for your fics, of course I'd be interested in reading them. Give me time to catch up with my duties here and when I grab a few spare minutes I'll be more than happy to read through what you've got or are willing to share. As a fellow writer, I appreciate the vulnerability you get penning your thoughts and ideas and leaving parts of yourself open and exposed to be judged by the world at large to see. It can be daunting, and never seems to get any easier over time. Don't sweat it. Even crap stories can evolve or spin off into new and interesting ideas over time. And who are any of us to judge, huh? Isn't there some biblical verse about blameless people casting the first stone? Trust me, no stones will be thrown here. If they are - BOOM! Their butts will be off the site as fast as my fingers can click the delete and block buttons XD

Ahh Matt - appears we have so much in common. Scary, isn't it? I see dead people too! OMG what a coinsidence! Mysteriously only straight after I crawl out of bed and always in my bathroom or reflective surfaces (or a hard night out on the grog), but funnily enough they disappear after I've had my morning cuppa, had a shower... and don't return til generally the next moring... eerie, isn't it? *lmao* You know in reference to your post you could always go back and edit should you feel that way inclined... but I see no reason you should. People will get to know you in time... maybe... they can form their own opinions then and you don't have to really lift a finger, huh? wink.gif

It's true, a night out and their all around, especially in bristol *shudders*. I actually did that the other morning, like 5 or summit went to the toilet and caught myself in the mirror, made myself jump, though my heart was gonna come bursting through my rib cage lol.

I could go back and edit the post, i think i might just add some stuff to the biography thingy on my profile page. might just be easier but i do tend to let people form their own opinions of me. I think im nice, polite, talkative and funny but it doesnt mean that everyone else sees me that way. I might well come across as a real bogan or summit, God im picking up Aussie slang already, lmao

Well, I barely care what my friends listen to either, but it is always nice to compare your likings, which songs and bands you prefer for example, maybe send some songs to each other, discuss about the lyrics, make your own reviews etc. I dunno, maybe it's just because music is such a big thing in my life.

I think I'll make a thread for my book sometime soon. In the meantime, I've posted a short story called "Walk" here.

Overall, I appreciate your understanding.
smile
