I was in a band last year which was active for about 5 months and broke up last January. We recorded one demo: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BD7PKPQO
14 min long song, post-rock was the genre we set out with but we ended up incorporating a lot of darkness in some sort of hardcore influences
Check it out if you like post-rock or post-hardcore or something or if you just like ****in epic atmospheric music with dark energetic chapters spread between, lulz
Will check it ASAP, was just thinking if you're still into making music.
As a matter of fact, I'm a musician now too, I mean a REAL musician, not that Strayed-dude anymore lol. Anyways, I'll let you know what I think tomorrow

"We’ve never tried to come off as better than our fans, our fans... when they come to see us play, they’re actually a part of, you know, us playing. Sonny, the way he is on stage, he connects with them, emotional and in every kind of way you can imagine, you know, musically, and I think that they can see that it’s not, you know, a put on, it’s not something that’s fake, it’s real." - Mark Daniels of P.O.D.
sweet, can't wait to hear it. doubt youll like it though haha
Lol, I'm not the same LP fan you once knew. I've grown to expand my musical likings a lot.
As far as the track itself goes, I really like how it starts out melodic and peaceful, though I was hoping it would start building up a bit earlier. It is wonderfully progressive though, and with increased quality, the haunting, heavy parts would sound so good... I do think the double-bass kicks were maybe a bit unnecessary though, since it wasn't that heavy (or maybe you meant it to be, but your equipment didn't allow you to lol). I'm not sure what the screams in the second heavy part are supposed to be, but they should be brought in more, not to hide the guitars but make the atmosphere even more visible. I also think that a few whispery vocals in the melodic parts would help the song grow more smoothly. Not much to complain, I'm struggling here to be honest to give good, constructive feed! Haha. But for real, overall, I think you should be very proud, I'm not an expert by any means on progressive rock/metal, post-hardcore or anything this is supposed to be, but I've heard some stuff and this sounded pretty good to me. Maybe a bit too stretched here and there, it was very atmospheric and emotional (no, not emo though lol). Shame your band got broken up, but if you're doing all the guitars, you'll find a new band soon for sure.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to say, that I'm not sure is it intentional just to create that haunting atmosphere, but to me it seems like the bass isn't on-key all the time...

Good to hear, I can help you find stuff if you want...
Now, thanks a mil man! Honest feedback is the best. I really agree now, the track is too long. If I were to play it with a band now, I'd cut the opening by 2-3 minutes, prolly leave the next parts after that mostly in tact and then just drop/cut out the last part, the one with the screams. The reason the screams are buried in the mix was because when we recorded them they seemed fine but when we went to mix it they sounded bad and we didnt want to spend more money rerecording so we decided to make them more subtle in the mix.
No problem. And since I'm into heavy stuff at the moment (been listening to Sepultura quite a bit lately), sure, you can recommend some stuff for me to check out.

Dude, nice taste! Beneath the Remains is considered their classic album but Id also check out the stuff they released before that. The audio quality sucks but the music is good
The one I've been listening to is Chaos A.D., which is the easiest one for me to start with, because I'm already a fan of Soulfly, Max Cavalera's solo project. I'll dig their discography a bit deeper this weekend. Thanks.
