Nowhere near as good as they could and should be. They need to just quit or stop with that irritating screaming that makes them sound pathetic and talentless...
Used to be one of my faves, but grew out of them. I still hope they were still together though, and Serj's solo album is alright.

"We’ve never tried to come off as better than our fans, our fans... when they come to see us play, they’re actually a part of, you know, us playing. Sonny, the way he is on stage, he connects with them, emotional and in every kind of way you can imagine, you know, musically, and I think that they can see that it’s not, you know, a put on, it’s not something that’s fake, it’s real." - Mark Daniels of P.O.D.
They have a few songs that I like. They're definitely not metal though, like many people seem to think :P not that it matters when it comes to music making though, they're hard rock and sometimes they do hit the right notes I feel
I've always felt they did too much singing, not enough screaming hehe thats just me
Great band IMHO. I only own Toxicity and Steal This Album!. I got into them with the song B.Y.O.B.. Then so on and so on. Did find it surprising that THEY are still on hiatus! lol

Oh please. You're clearly extremely ignorant when it comes to System. They don't sound "pathetic" or "talentless", in fact, they're the exact opposite.
@ the first sentence: wtf? They're not together any more and they were extremely successful in their time. So please, tell me how they could've improved?
haha wow. dude, success selling-wise doesn't mean they're as good a band as they could be. the only reason why system gets any mainstream attention is the same reason 90% of mainstream bands get it, they sold out enough. they bow enough down to the clichés and conforms of popular music. if they were to actually do something really creative and out there, people and mainstream media would shun them for being to "out there"
Heartless has a point. No one who knows anything about music shouldn't say that a band's popularity is an indicator for how talented or good the band really is (not to be rude or anything, just saying). There are other stuff that define that which would take way too much space and time to list down.
Anyhow, something that has been annoying me in the most recent music by SoaD is Daron's singing. He really doesn't have an 'attractive' voice imo.

I think he can sing alright though. Its just that some people are luckier than others with the voice they get. I agree, his voice doesn't sound very attractive musically.

Yeah I know, he can use his voice really well, but in contrast to Serj he just destroys some of their tracks in my opinion with his singing. I can relate, I have a terrible voice.

So when he screams it's emotion? Ditch the singer and yeah, good stuff, but that singer is horrible. He has no talent! Anyone can speak in an aggressive way, anyone can scream in an annoying and horrible way, so what makes him so special?
Because like previously mentioned, Daron doesn't really have that special something, but Serj has a unique voice and he can use his voice very varyingly. His lyrics are also very multi-interpretational and poetic, not to mention he's a multi-instrumentalist.

The lyrics. His voice. They're completely unique and extremely intriguing. That's why he's so special.
SOAD hardly scream. Like... ever. They sing mostly, and even so, screaming is about passion - it's about anger. If you think you can scream for an entire song (let alone an entire gig, like some bands do who scream a lot), you can thinka gain bub.
Well Chino (from Deftones) voice is bad (and I don't mean to say anything bad about him) but the band is still famous. Just because a dudes voice is bad doesn't mean the song is gonna be bad.
No, Chino's voice isn't bad, it's original. He has a wide range of different techniques and pitches. Not to mention it takes quite a lot of guts and talent to sing a whole album drunk.
