So all ex Evanescence members have united to form another band...

AND STILL IT HAS A FEMALE SINGER THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE AMY LEE!

I call this band, 'Ben Moody Strikes Back'.

How did I miss this thread. (Oh right, I didn't have internet access at the time of its posting.)

I actually heard about this about a month back. I hated it then and I hate it now, because they're all saying it's like Evanescence reborn, this chick looks and sounds just like Amy Lee, ooh she won American Idol too so she MUST be good, and d'awww, they named the band after Evanescene's first album ain't that sweet.

'No', 'no', 'augh', and 'they're lazy'. That's my response.

It's a freakin' rip-off is what it is, and it's ten times worse because almost all of Evanescene is part of it. It's like they're ripping themselves off. It's stupid. I mean, to me Evanescence is nothing without Amy Lee, but if they'd kept the name it wouldn't seem so pointless. If they're basically the same band ... then why did they change the name? To distance themselves from the awesomeness that is Evanescence and Amy Lee?

Ehn. I'm probably just sore because it's not definite Amy's going to do a solo project and I may never get to hear her voice again in anything new. I'll have to settle for this second-rate wanna-be chica.

Wow, I totally just ranted about this lmao.gif

I find it kind of sad that you dismiss this as a rip off when you fail to realize that members of this band can't exactly rip off their own style. Are you saying the remaining members of Evanescence are the only ones who helped with the style of the band?

I'm saying the only thing that made Evanescence unique was Amy Lee's voice, as far as I'm concerned. I know I'm biased -- being an amatuer singer myself I tend to pretty much ignore anything that doesn't come out of the human mouth -- but the others' 'style' means nothing without her leading them. Just my opinion.

And, I'm not just dismissing them. I listened to the song. I hated it.

@Jack, did these guys cover Going Under? I think whatshername did it on American Idol or whatever she was on, but I didn't think the whole band covered it. Then again I'm not exactly following them.

That's not a good bias to have... And Amy Lee's voice obviously isn't unique, people say the same about Chester Bennington... It just isn't true. Dig deeper into the more gothic genres and you will find plenty of similar Amy Lee type vocalists.
Also based on what you say, that would pretty much mean that any band that loses any member loses it's 'style' which is silly.
You called them a rip-off... ... ... ?
Also, to answer the name change question, at the time they formed this band (not sure if there are still plans), Amy Lee has said she was continuing Evanescence.

Is there any good bias to have? Just sayin'. I know it's not good, but it's the way I am - I do voices. And yes, most bands (to me) would lose more or less everything about them if they lost the singer - not any member, just the singer. Let me emphasize again: my opinion, which I know is terribly biased. Most female singers I don't like; for some reason I do like Amy Lee's voice, and that makes her unique to me.

I called them a rip-off because they're riding the wave of Evanescence with all that 'it's Evanescene just with a new singer, and she's JUST LIKE Amy Lee so it's fine' bullsh*t. They're not e. Can't be without Amy.

BIASED. I know. I got it. I said so.

Riding the wave? Is Amy Lee not doing the same thing then?
It's easier to argue that We Are The Fallen should hold the name Evanescence because it is a geater amount of the band (The better members to).
If they can't be Evanescence without her then she can't be Evanescence without them. Plus I'll bet if you listened to a great deal of their songs without having the idea stuck in your head that "They suck cause the singer isn't Amy Lee" then you MIGHT actually enjoy it.

^ Don't see how.

Amy's hardly riding the wave. For now it's not even positive she's working on a solo album (last I checked; if I'm wrong, then I stand corrected). If I remember correctly she's said she doesn't enjoy touring - I believe she got married, maybe she wants a family? - so even if she does come out with new music, she's probably not going to really promote it. Who knows, at this point. And sure she can't be Evanescence wthout them - she's not trying.

I wouldn't have any problem with The Fallen calling themselves Evanescence - it would make sense to me, to be quite honest. At least then they'd be upfront about 'hey, we're Evanescence, just with a new singer, it's that simple' instead of this bullsh*t with the name being a tribute to e's first album and the new singer supposedly looking and sounding just like Amy. Can you say ... trying too hard? They're so busy pushing the fact they they are-yet-aren't e (read: are a better version of e) that they can't see it'd be to just call themselves Evanescence and get it over with. Bandmembers change, it happens, but you don't change your damn name every time.

Lots of bands don't suck and they don't have Amy Lee singing for them. That's not why I dislike this band. I dislike them because I don't care for how they sound - imagine that, huh? Novel concept. I realized that at first I was sulking and would probably resent them no matter how they sounded, but I was able to put that aside and listen to the song. I even tried to like it. I just don't - which really isn't surprising, as I don't generally like female singers.

Now here's another novel concept. Instead of periodically dragging this thread up to rail at me and tell me what to like, how about you actually comment on the band or the song yourself? I don't think you ever did.

first things first, Amy Lee announced she was continuing Evanescence.

second, We Are The Fallen can't use the name Evanescence because at least one f them was kicked out of Evanescence as opposed to a split.

third, based on your previous comments all I could really gather was a dislike for the band being a rip off of sorts.

fourth, I didn't tell you what to like (nor did Jon2 though I can see why you would interpret it that way), I was simply pointing out that your judgement of the band being so negative for such silly reasons as far as I could gather from your posts

fifth, to Jon2, the intention was NEVER to own Jess, I was actually being quite a jerk looking back...

sixth, I apologize to Jess for being a jerk...

finally, the song Bury Me Alive was good, I enjoyed it (by We Are The Fallen of course)

I know. I was just looking at the whole convo and felt a need to say something. My mistake that it had to be something so stupid. Sorry.
