^ *nods* Yeah. I reckon I'll be too busy paying bills and working to get those bills paid soon, and I won't have time for believing in much of anything. It's sad, really, but that's how it is.

I'm Afraid of Americans - David Bowie

An oldie-but-goodie. Trent Reznor's in the music video - I love it. A comment from the NIN forums: "I've never really gotten that video. I mean, you David Bowie, undeniably not a straight man, and you're running from Trent Reznor?"

Guys, guys, guys... Prepare for a rant.

First of all, I agree with you both. Organized religion sucks. It's close-minded, old-fashioned, and doesn't even teach people about the personal relationship to God. That is, after all, what we all should be encouraged to rehearse instead of going to Church and talking to each other about our thoughts concerning God and religion. That is my opinion, at least. The fact is that we need to say those things to Him, because otherwise it's like we're talking behind our best friend's back, only He knows about it and if it were our friend he wouldn't. God understands if we're doubtful, sinful and possessed, and is willing to help as long as we're honest in our prayers and generally in life.

Lent is a respectable thing, and it's a challenge that God does care for - it just basically becomes meaningless if you do it every year in the same way. It takes away the whole element of challenge and that is when it becomes nothing but a ritual. Not eating meat is a good way of doing Lent but the way you do is not really important. What's important is that you acknowledge the sacrifice of getting rid of a habit or such that controls you.

As far as I know, Catholic rules are even more strict and foolish than Lutheran rules are, so Lupe, you're just fine. What religion doesn't always teach is that God is forgiving and if he wasn't, we wouldn't even be here. This makes rules less prominent and thus they're actually just a recommendation of how to live, which, then again, is less control than the Church wants to have. Following the rules isn't primary in my eyes, as long as you have some moral and feel sorry when you break the unwritten laws.

@Jess: I do question what I'm taught. I am very open-minded but in the same time, I question everything. If no one questioned anything, the ancient cults that have died ages ago would still be very much alive. I'm not blaming you for making the assumption you did, so sorry if this comes out like that. At one point or another, people have to question things, and that's a fact. If you keep looking with your eyes instead of using your vision, you're never going to be a believer or a non-believer, either.

As for the money issue, that is true these days. I would say that it can also bring you closer to God than away from him though. Earthly possession is something that's not really encouraged in the Bible, for example, but there lies a key in that - if you hate money and God hates money, you two can unite and make the world better together. Sounds utopian, but if you handle your bills and such but avoid getting too rich and obsessed with objects, God will do the rest.

Now, hopefully that didn't change the way you think about me. :P I'm no priest... Just a thinker.

I'm listening to Faithless - Insomnia (The 1995 studio version, that is)

Sonny, the way he is on stage, he connects with them, emotional and in every kind of way you can imagine, you know, musically, and I think that they can see that it’s not, you know, a put on, it’s not something that’s fake, it’s real." -

Not really. I don't think differently about you. Like you, I do question about religion and also other things too. I do think from time to time out of the box. And about the Lent thing...Idk. If people are going to make a big deal about the Lent thing then why aren't people making a big thing about the problems around the world. That has been brought up at my job...but yeah...my rant is over XD.

@ Jon2 - to be totally and completely honest I don't much care what other people believe, so long as they don't try to make me believe it *shrugs* I'm just that ... apathetic? Hahah. And you have just as much right as Lupe or I to air your opinion on the subject, so ...

Johanna - Sweeney Todd Soundtrack

Though there are two tracks named that. This is the one that comes later in the movie, that actually had three singers and that I think of as City on Fire, becaue:

Smoke! Smoke!
Sign of the devil, sign of the devil
City on fire ...
Witch! Witch!
Smell that smell, that evil smell
Every night at the vesper's bell
Smoke that comes from the mouth of Hell
City on fire ...
City on fire ...
Mischeif! Mischeif! Mischeif!"

I just want to make it clear that I am not being pushy or anything of the sort when it comes to religion and spirituality. I do care what other people believe but it's not something I'd go ahead and try to change.

Demon Hunter - Collapsing

Love this song, and the entire album.

No no, I know you're not. And it's nice to see, considering I'm so used to the cuckoo zealots that live in this are I'm in, but for the same reason I may come off as a little defensive myself. Definitely don't mean to.

Ok, it's all cool :)

I'm listening to my new demo Scoff. Just a short sample so far but so good if I may say so.

So my brother got a new computer.

I promise this is relevant to what I'm listening to.

See, my brother's laptop's speakers went out - he could still use headphones, but the speakers just weren't working. He needed to send it in to be repaired, but since he needs it more for school, that wasn't going to be possible for several months. So, a devious plot was hatched. He would get a new computer, and when his old one returned from being serviced, I could have it. Total win-win.

Unfortunately, after a couple weeks of waiting to hear back from the tech place, we finally heard that they "couldn't" repair it and - and hour and a half of standing in line later - we were all ready to get a replacement of the same model. So we go back to the computer sales area and guess what? They don't cary that model anymore. A little more waiting in line and we get an in-store credit card worth the value of the old comp. Next half hour: picking out a computer. Next half hour (I swear): waiting for a guy to get our selection out of the warehouse.

Now after much toing-and-froing, I finally decided on a computer about two hunder bucks cheaper than the one we were getting refunded for, so now you have two teenagers of varying geekiness unsupervized in Best Buy with two hunder dollars. WOW. But no, we managed to restrain ourselves to two games and one CD (mine) - which was ...

Oh well - tl;dr version is: I have Korn's debut album now! Tol' you it was relevant.

Ball Tongue - Korn

... Yes I am pleased with my purchase. I only wish I'd rounded it off and gotten Take a Look In The Mirror too *curses self*

Haha, good for you Jess! :) Blind is my favorite off of the debut, by far.

Blind is an awesome opening track, for sure - not my favorite all total, but definitely the best choice for an opener. Heck, the only openers I can think of that I liked more are Godsmack's Moon Baby and NIN's Somewhat Damaged - and that's NIN so you don't get any higher in my books wink.gif

Her Name Is Alice - Shinedown (from the Almost Alice album, soundtrack to the new Alice in Wonderland movie)

I'm listening to Wicked Breath - In The Art of Dreaming wink.gif

Music coming from my brother's computer. Kinda hip-hopy. A game. This must be fixed.

Evey Day Is Exactly The Same - NIN

It's been Korn for the entire rest of the day, from waking myself up with Coming Undone at about 7:30 up to a few hours ago when I switched to NIN. I do like my Korn, but late at night when my brains hurts, some Fragile-With_Teeth era NIN is just about perfect *sighs*
