Uploading a picture

For a picture to show up on the forum you first have to upload it onto the internet, and obtain a url for it. So, when you have a picture you want to upload, save it onto your computer and upload it at any of the following sites:

http://www.imageshack.us/index.php Maximum image size 1024KB. Extensions allowed: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif, .swf

http://www.clausercorp.com/uploader/ Maximum file size is 500 KB. extensions allowed .gif .bmp .jpg .doc .xls .zip .rar .jpeg .ngs .png .PNG .GIF .JPG .JPEG .HTM .htm .HTML .html

http://www.photobucket.com/ 250 KB file size limit; Extensions allowed: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp (You are required to log on to upload on this one)

http://www.freeimageupload.net/ Allowed image types: .gif .jpg .jpeg .pjpeg .png .bmp .swf (Flash); Maximum filesize of 500 KB

You can also attach an image to your reply by uploading from your machine, like so:
Scroll down to this:

Tick the "Attack Image(s) box.  You have the choice to enter a URL or a File from your computer.

To use a file from your computer

Click "Choose" search for your preferred image.  Click  on the preferred image ONCE and press "Ok". The directory URL will appear  on the bottom line and the file name can be seen on the top line. You can choose up to 10 attached image. Then click "Upload File" (like I have done..aww..goldfish!)

Then just sumbit your reply and a thumbnail will be attached to your post.

Uploading Media

You can upload media through these services:
YouSendIt Max file size is 1GB
RapidShare Max file size is 100MB
As always make sure to follow copyright laws when posting media.

Posting an image

Use this when posting an image on your signature field or when posting a reply to a thread:

[ img]www.url_of_image.com[ /img]
Always use the [ img][ /img] tags when posting a picture. But without the spaces between the in the '[ img]' and '[ img]' tags

Avatars

The image's dimensions have to be 200 pixles x 200 pixels, nothing greater than that. If your avatar is over the dimensions it will automatically scale it down. To add an avatar to go 'Profile' and then click 'Avatar'. You can only upload avatars from your computer. Once you have uploaded your avatar, 'Your Library' will appear which saves previous avatars and all you have to do is, select avatar and click 'Use Avatar'.

Signature Images

The maximum size of a signature image is 500 x 300. Nothing greater than that is allowed or will be replaced with the words "Signature removed, too large, pwned by (insert username here). Or something similiar to that. To edit your signature go to 'Profile' and click on 'Edit signature'.

If your signature is just over the maximum size a staff member will send a PM off to that Quills member asking to downsize it a bit to fit the requirements.

If your signature is WAYYYY over the maximum size, it will be removed and replaced with the above text.

Miscellaneous

To make your link appear as text like this use this:
[ url=www.site_you_want_to_link_to.com]your text[ /url]'
Without the spaces between "[ url]" and "[ /url]"

To make your images a link use this:
[ url=www.site_you_want_to_link_to.com][ img]www.url_of_image.jpeg[ /img][ /url]
Again, without the spaces between '[ url]', '[ /url]', '[ img]', and '[ /img]'

OR

Select your desired text and click the link button. A pop up window will appear. Enter your url and select your target. Your target in English is if you want your link to open in the same window or if it should open in another when people click on it. The rest you don't need to do really. Press ok.

Moderators

So far there is only one, the one and only Modmother herself, Ravynlee, and of course myself. I have to stress this point: Although I am nice and caring, asking for a place in the Mod Squad will not do. Mods are chosen on post quality not quantity. Mod positions will be available for PUBLIC discussion in the near future but will be discussed privately first.

How to add a video to a post

I have newly discovered this. Click the  filmstrip icon. A pop up box should appear, asking you to put the URL of it in. Just put the normal URL in and not the embedded code in. Click "Ok" and you should have something like this [ video=(url of video here)] (Spaces added in my post so don't worry about any spaces in your post.

So when you are finished your post should look like this:
