Some view the title "The Park" and their eyes open up remembering fond memories. Most here will look with question. The Park was a day to day collaboration of what would be your fictional life. The last one took place in New York City, in a small apartment building. It thrived for a good time, but eventually, the mob dominated the people within. So the basic over line is this is a collaboration story where you the reader become the writer. The story takes the plot of what you, and the other writers design. You can write in third person, first person, have a friend come with you, be alone, whatever you want, it's your life...
Seems nice and dandy? Sadly this is a twist story, it's not all the same! (Insert Aww's) This is in fact a much, darker and more evil twist. It's been awhile since things were fine, and what most would call the "Apocolypse" has taken underway.
Back story: The United States and North Korea were at war. The battle was weak, no ground being made, no damage done. Eventually, Kim Jung Il decided it was time for new war to being, with the introduction of a new BioHazard only known as "Gas Z." "Gas Z" was bombed upon the US in all major cities, Hollywood, New York City, Washington D.C., and more. The effects were unknown at the time. But the US fired back with a similar product. North Korea expecting the attack, was able to stop most Bio-Nukes by sending them into other countries, but failing to stop them all, Korea was immediately under effect, thousands of civilians hit the floor soon after the bombing. The United States was at victory.
Six Months Later.
Most of Asia has no communications, but few did make it out of the blackout. Reports of cannabalism, murder, and death fill the airs. Panic strikes the world. The United States now beings having reports of people randomly passing out, and dying. Within only a week after the first report, towns start to get quarantined, then states. Only a few people made it out of some of the quarantined states, one man reporting "My brother...we were at his funeral when banging inside the bang shattered the silence he then broke open the casket, and grabbed my wife...eating her......"
Seven Months Later.
America is now in the dark...and this is where you are. You are a survivor, and you stumble upon a shelter from the outside. Slowly but surely you enter, and you are assigned a room within the building, as you walk through, you see people crying, people injecting drugs, screaming, and loud music. You know this place may be a shelter, but is it more a jail? You reach your room. Welcome to "The Park" one of the many settlements in America that can protect you from the horrors outside, or lock you with your worst nightmares. Will you become a friend of everyone? Work in a scouting party? Keep a journal? Kill fellow survivors for property? That is your choice...
Basic Rules would be:
- You must post (at least) once every other day. - You may only make one post a day. -If you want to include a another member from the site in yours that is a part of the story, please ask their promission --- In doing so, make sure your two stories are correct with eachother, and there are no contradictory facts. -Be serious please, dont be some super rich super jacked man with 10 bitches, remember. This IS a Apocolypse, you should have little to nothing.
Interesting New Things Compared to the Original "The Park"
Once a week a new update willl be made including
Low Food : You need someone to incorporate hunting and gathering supplies/food. Low ammo : Same thing but for weapons/ammo Low Supplies : Someone needs to collect wood/metal to rebuild barricades Gang Attack : Occasionaly other settlements will attempt to attack "The Park" for slaves and supplies (This also means as a member of the Park, you can collaborate Gang Attacks against other settlements)
Failure to have someone complete one of the upper things can result in...
No Food : Someone must die via starvation No Ammo : Zombie Outbreak within "The Park" No Supplies : Zombies can get inside (Having good ammo supply, can counteract this problem) Death : You can either kill a roomate (if you decided to bring one, this does not have to be another member) or another member of the site must die from a Gang Attack Sacrifice : A Gang will trade their attacks for one member (Either a roomate you bring with you, or yourself, you have to give yourself in, or be voted by the other Members as a sacrifice.
P.S. the Fort will be drawn up soon, so you can see how it works, i've got a good idea on this one.
SOOOOO who is interested, i put all the thought behind it, the least you could all do is participate lol. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

i'm in but make it once every two days at least... Once every day is way too hard for me. I'll even struggle with 2. The reasons: Since the Park original was on LPF, I've become more social and spend a lot of time out and about. I am in my final year of school now so I have to study a lot to ensure I do not fail.
I'd love to participate (the original Park was great, and zombies make everything better ), but I can only post on Friday and Saturday. Eh...maybe I could be some sort of traveler who regularly visits the Park? Maybe I've found some other shelter I think is better and I'm trying to convince someone I love, be they a love interest or a family member, to come join me - but of course for some reason they won't?
I'm in. As I told you a while back when the idea was first pitched I've pre-written sometthing already. Having said that I'm in agreement with Pete. I can't do what I could before with the original as time constraints (with work, modding and other writing etc) would kill any decent attempt at posting before I started. May I be so bold as to say at least this first time around, maybe two,we post one a week collectively and that should give everyone else enough time to read what others may have written and incorporate ideas into theirs before they post?
As I was telling you the other day, Sarah and I ran into trouble with the original Park because we really were rushing things - we rushed everything forward too fast and no one could 1) keep up and 2) find a way for their stories to bleed even a fraction into everyone else's in any way tying them to the rest. I think in order to keep this idea strong and consistent a one-a-week post at least for now will let you know is it's feasable and if you can work around the logistics of such an ambitious project - because yes you have put a lot of thought and work into this, I know you're eager but I'd hate to see you ruin it in your excitement. Give us time
Now - bring on the zombies! I can't get enough of 28 days later - and Dawn of the Dead creeps the *insert applicable vulgarity here* out of me!!! Oh and naturally, guess who I'm bringing to the party *cheers* yay!*lol*
Quick off topic: LOL sis when I come to visit I'll bring my zomibe movie collection :p
Back on topic: The original park was annoying in that it was difficult to keep up with. I had a great idea but not enough time to develop it. I had to post every say so I was rushing the hell out of it and hit a block and that was the end of my story.
So even for those who have the time, one post a week would probably keep things more in order, more simple and more interesting. There would be more in each update for those who have more time, and everyone who wants to would be able to contribute.
Man, this sounds so great, but I'm afraid I can't participate. I already got way too much stuff on my hands. I'll be following what you can come up with for sure though.

"We’ve never tried to come off as better than our fans, our fans... when they come to see us play, they’re actually a part of, you know, us playing. Sonny, the way he is on stage, he connects with them, emotional and in every kind of way you can imagine, you know, musically, and I think that they can see that it’s not, you know, a put on, it’s not something that’s fake, it’s real." - Mark Daniels of P.O.D.
Hey DL are you going to post the image of the setting as you showed me the other day - just to give people some inspiration and something physical to work around (so we all describe the same kind of place for one thing)?
Also - do you think it's handy maybe those that are willing to participate describe a few things about themselves, what they want to be known as, or even how they want to be percieved here before we start so if anyone else wants to mention seeing someone of that description they also have something to work with - and character interraction came follow if need be in later chapters?
There's maybe one or two things that haven't been openly discussed I'm wondering if it's worth mentioning here for any prospective 'players.' One being you can bring in a friend or as many people as you like second to you (you being the main character you control/write about) and these 'housemates/secondary characters' are yours solely to control as you see fit - that means no one gets to kill off anyone someone else has brought in to the game/story. Also worth noting if you plan to bring in someone from this site or someone you know get their permission first - and if they're a celeb power to you, hope you don't get sued *lmao*
2)I'm not sure what anyone else has done or has in mind but what I've got so far is a standalone story where meeting DL (or at least a nameless entity in this refuge) ties it in to this overall thing. When and if DL inserts himself into the story we can work around that. I'm thinking DL as the leader of this troupe you should write a starting chapter even of maybe how you got to where you are, surviving, battling through and making it to this place and setting it up and now are finding stragglers wandering in... and leave the ending open to some degree - so the rest of us can pick up parts of yours if we need to and tie them in. Just a thought.
Wondering also how everyone's planning to approach this? View points I mean. I think it would be cooler if we all went first person POV but then again not everyone's comfortable with that. Just curious. And have been thinking about things, as you can see, so thought I'd think aloud was all.
Jesus christ, you really evaluate things big time! Dang. once a week it is necessary, any more ar free. so like once a week is your main post, but if you feel like there is a little thing here and there you want to throw in, those are obviously welcome.
If you bring someone in your home that is a member of course you need promition. Anyone you bring in can be killed at your desire, or if you let someone else get too close they can too by regulation
any free agents i.e. fake people made up/celebs dont need promition obviously but can too be killed in similar manners
i.e. Jill brings in David. Sarah falls in love with david, they marry. Sarah then has the right to kill David off, because she is of the same amount of importance to David as Kill is.
If you bring someone in, it is your duty to regulate their actions, remember this is a life or death situation, you may lose a few housemates to people who are evil.
I will this week write the initial post
Initial Ice Breaker post will be...
The story of how The Park was cleared/settled. It will describe The Park IN depth. The types of "Zombies" there are, yes, i am in fact reaching for a Resident Evil style, where there are basic zombies, but other creatures too. I will describe myself physically, but not socially to leave that up to you what to call me, and not assume of me, since i will be playing as myself, and not an alter ego.
be back in a moment with the picture
is the basic geography, the settlement will be a small group of homes enclosed by barriers, it wil be next to the water on the left side of the picture.
Sunday will be the announcement if...
Zombies are attacking, if gangs are, low ammo etc etc...
Saturday will be when main posts are due.
I believe i should have my character be the runner of "The Park" itself (in the actual thing)? just to help new people come in/leave and make sense when i announce if we are running low on ammo and such.

I think it pays to over- analyse certian situations, in this case maybe I'm just getting a bit ahead of myself, but I remember how all-encompassing the original Park was, so I've got a bit of an understanding as to what to do different (from my personal perspective) this time round.
I've already brought in David, that's a given, because I think it's necessary to have a second or sub character your main character will interract with - if you spend too much time relying on other people to post to interract with you'll end up bored and stuck for ideas too quick. Having said that now David as a character is under my control. Should I feel the need to have him killed off I'll give permission, but for the purposes of clarification, because he is someone I've already written in he is mine to do with as I please - not anyone else *insert evil laughter here* XD
The sooner you get your post up DL the better. Will give the rest of us time to draft something up before saturday. Also you mentioned something about the floorplan or such of the Park (base camp) - still going ahead with that?
I judge by your description we members wandering into this place will be granted one of those 'cottages' to live in. That's good in that it keeps us separate enough for stand-alone stories to grow but whenever we leave our 'makeshift homes' we are back out into the mainstream Park society.
One thing. You may need to clarify this in your initial post. Things essential to our survival and surrounds.
Do we have power? If yes is it sustainable (meaning does it come from gas-run generators that we continually need to go out and get fuel for?) or magically supplied by the powergrid (if yes, it's obviously short-term and this may need explaining as time runs out)
Food you've already mentioned is a problem. Given the Park was once some kind of small town fishing community by the looks, it was not meant to sustain a growing number of starving survivors. Are we able to eat the fish etc or have rotting corpses and gas contaminated the water making it undrinkable? (Also remembering fetid water can be a great source of disease as well)
Water. If we can't drink the stuff near us, do we have a well, or do we need to go out weekly and raid more and more abandonned shopping centres and homes to get it? How do we bathe now? Are we well equiped with basic sanitation or are we basically walking into huts with no running water, little food, and little to no electricity (candlelight)?
Duration. If you've essentially established this place what happened to all the corpses of the people who were once here? Did they mysteriously abandon it or do you need from the get-go people to help you burn the bodies etc? (This is a good way to get others to link their stories together; ie 'spent the day burning the dead wirh DL and / or the crew, etc.')
Personnel. As the leader do you have people you already control to patrol the grounds and barriers that I assume surround the Park? If yes it frees the rest of us up to do whatever. If not we will have to randomly assume we take it in turns to stand watch or you will need to notify us each week who's up for watch and who's going on scouting missions etc.
Again, not sure what you have in mind, but if people's posts generally encompass one week's worth of time (1 post here = 1 week of Park time / Journal entries) we may need things from you to guide us or prompt us in where we take our stories. If you say you want for example David to scout and I personally as a writer refuse, that will cause enough friction between your characters and mine to write into one another's stories, get where I'm going with this?
Anyway, have been thinking about it all day at work and even wrote another page while walking to work (yes you read that correctly) so I'm thinking aloud again and eager to see things up and running. Throwing ideas out there to see where you're at and what your thoughts are. Thanks for humouring me! =)
Its a great thing you think these out, like half the times these things are in my head, but i am too tired to write them out....
I will draw up a floor plan soon.
The cottages have one floor each some have two for the "examplar" members of society (this should create a problem between upper/lower class)
Power is run off a gas generator, we need to constantly get gas. With that said later on it will be a necessary to go out on like a 2-4 week (2/4 post) mission on activating the grid.
Food, aye.... there is still fish in the water but its all contaminated. you will end up having to boil out alot of the disease, but sadly you are still able to get sick from food (sickness should be a common thing in your story)
Water, Well remember you can burn out most dirty things via boiling the water and such. so there won't be much clean/cool water. (later on we might come across a large water purifier in one of the surrounding factories)
Duration, we will bury the dead in a graveyard about 1/4 of a mile away. burning the dead is absolutely a bad thing to do to the already filthy air. (this can create more action/adventure feel in some cases)
Personnel, there will be three guards on duty, all NPC's. These people are only free to be killed on my say since its all a matter of timing/drama. Names will be Leon, Jill, Wesker. (if anyone catches the reference, kudos to you. also the rule if you date/marry them you can kill them too rule is valid in this scenario)

Awesome DL. So far have copied all info onto my desktop so I can organise things and get on track. I'm chomping at the bit here for you to post so I can tie it into mine! No pressure or anything but please HURRY UP! hahaha One question - what's the main office on the map for? I guess you'll explain that in due time huh? Just wondered - in case new 'survivors' wandering in have to get processed there or sth first? I guess it can wait... I should be getting ready for bed but have too many ideas in my head really. Was thinking I should go watch Resident Evil now for more inspiration (thanks to Sarah's comments earlier in another thread) - but probably not the best idea at this time of night. Creep myself out! 0.0 Wow, have I had too much coffee today or what?! *lol*
You've mentioned Resident Evil as an influence here - one question; are we talking movies or games (cause I haven't played all the games, just #4 so I won't get a few references otherwise). As I'm more a movie-buff I'm gonna base 'my' zombies off these. Not getting too far ahead of myself too soon of course, but I was thinking earlier - because I love my zombie movies - how would the 'infection' spread? (via blood/bight, open wound, drop in the eye as per 28 Days Later style or gas?) Seeing as how much of the gas should have dissipated by now I'm assuming the damage has already been done to the infected and now they pass it on through direct contact. That's the way I'm gonna play it anyway. Thats what I've got anyway. And wasn't quite sure how you were 'playing/writing' it so I took a slighty different approach. More story-based through first person POV. Hope to have it up soon ^^
Thanks for the clarification. As this went up AFTER I posted my update I'm still hoping what I wrote was okay, if not I'll edit and fix. Because I've got a few days off now I'm probably more into this than most so I am penning the next update as we speak. I'll try not to make it as long as the first but make no promises - I won't always be able to write that much of course once I'm back at work but will manage something!
DL - I'm guessing your basing the cut-off dates via your time (USA) meaning the Saturday cut off period and Sunday updates from you. Still going ahead with that update? I know so far it's just you me, your crew and Dave, but we'll see what happens in the next few days.
One more thing. When/if you jump back on before I'm done my writing, was wondering if you wanted to collab with me to get me and Dave into The Park. Its up to you, I'll write my own version of events if you've already got something pre-penned or planned, no biggie.
Oh and do you have others in The Park you don't control? Meaning can I write someone in as if they've been there maybe a few days, found by you or your crew, and my people can interract with him until or if someone else kills him off etc? Do you understand what I mean or should I just 'find' and bring this third character in and let him loose in The Park to see what happens to him? Because until others post all we have at the moment is you (Jason), me (Rae), Dave and your 3 (which reminds me, Leon, Jill, and Albert or Chris or Wesker? I'm confused as to who you have now!) Not a big community to write around - or... is that the point at the moment??
