So recently I'm beginning to get notifications that there are corrupt files on my computer and that I need to run Check Disk. I did it tonight, after being told that AbiWord couldn't open my document because it was corrupt and unreadable. So I go into check disk, I get through the first stage and there comes an error and it shuts down. I typed in the /f after it in run and it said it couldn't run the check because it was in operation in another program and asked me if I wanted to perform it when the system retstarts so I said yes. So I restarted my computer and nothing happened. What the hell is going on and can any tell me how to fix it?

Could this be a virus? It has happened to me to get weird notifications and also be unable to run some programs because of a virus in my system that blocked even the antivirus from working properly. All I can suggest is running a system restore back to the date before those strange messages started popping up and see what happens. It HAS solved some problems for me. I'm not sure it CAN help in your case but wouldn't hurt giving it a try would it?
I hope not. I ran my anti-virus software the other day and tackled some little ones like malware and stuff. But I can't even defrag my system because it says that I need to run check disk.

Hmm. I have a few ideas, but first I need to know; do you have another computer?

Well is there any way you could connect your current hard drive as a slave drive to someone else's computer? You can do it with a USB cable and that way you can scan your hard drive and modify it any way you want without infecting the other computer. Another option is to simply switch another hard drive to your computer and make it the main hard drive, and then connect your current HD as a slave drive. If those don't help, there are always repair shops in which you can do the slave drive thingy. If you find your money situation bad and you have backed up most of your data, I suggest you reformat.
