Best you stay 'naive' in that way I suppose. But for all intents and purposes you should still have a rough idea on where we're up to... Depends on when you intend to write yourself back in of course. Right now as it stands not everyone's there. No matter, you'll figure it out...
Good luck =)
EDIT:
I've got about 8 pages written up. I'll post them when I get back from work. Sorry for the delay guys =)

Jeezus, woman, you should write horror. The whole ghostly-Rob thing was awesome. Hah, but then semi-insanity always get me, so maybe I'm biased ^.^ Oh, and it's ironic that you mentioned the kitten's name - I've got something about that written up.
Wrapped up the things going on back at the Park, and (I think) got to a good pausing point for those on the road. It's fairly long, but I hope y'all enjoy

^ Thankies. That's probably the best compliment I've recieved in recent memory, so thanks for that *grins like an idiot*
As for your long post, OMFG what a rollercoaster. It's at this point (at the surgery of Doc M, isn't that a shady character! I'm seeing potential in thie cretan, I meant, nice helpful fellow XD) - that I'm thinking this could almost be something of a screenplay you know. I saw this last thing evolve so well it was amazing - if not a tad horrific *lol* But that's the idea I'm guessing.
Rae's erm... 'baby' is quite hideous. Not just that, it really made me think, what the hell have we created (both as writers in a post-apocalyptic world and as characters, being Rae and the proposed other parent) and brought into an already god-awful place? This 'thing' reminded me, I hate to say it, of the Alien in the movies by the same name. I think it was meant to resemble something human, or once was, with the latent infection morphing it into something else. Evolution gone bad. This 'Gas-Z' has some b*tchin' side-effects! (kudos for that, even I didn't see that one coming, with the 'thing' and all, trully creative that was!) I have to admit I was a little devestated too. I can use this of course, and it will serve me well as a writer, but just sitting here thinking that this 'thing' is out there, and we have no idea what it really is let alone what it's capable of is quite a terrifying thing. Have they brought a new generation of killer into the game or a rare protector? And this whole question of whether or not David fathered it... admittedly I never answered that myself. I think, as you seem to, that not knowing the answers makes this whole thing just that much more creepy. If he is infected in some way (or at least the gas has done something to him that not even he's aware of) then that really does make him a liability - and I'm wondering if that means we're looking at the beginning of the end of the human race as it existed or just him... or if perhaps he too will eventually become something else? God knows at this point - it's all really quite scary! I love it! Haha. Wondering too now whether 'Trinity/Jamie' (does that not confuse you, having one character with 2 names? *shrugs* seems to work at the moment anyway) - with her extra-sensory-perception, or at least her 'inhuman capabilities' whether she can 'sense' something wrong now, or will just be looking at David more like a potential threat than another survivor...
I have to admit, I almost wanted Rae to stay preggers and breathe new hope into this helpless existence, but this way works 100% better. I think I was just growing attached to her insanity - and I'm not sure now whether or not what she's been through will be the end of that status or whether it just exacerbates it? 'Evil' Rob has been fun to play with... *shrugs*
Funny Doc M kind of reminded me of The Professor from Futurama mixed with a surly Trent Reznor. I have no idea why, it's just what my mind conjured *lol* His 'hospital' made me think of... Silent Hill. That creeped me out like you wouldn't believe - and I adore the eeire kids that don't seem like they belong there, well the context of their being there anyway. That was brilliant when you stop to think, as horrific as experimentation on the living and the dead would be, that there are no governing bodies or officials around now to oversee anything so it's basically free reign to anyone who wants to create a human chop-shop. *shudders again*
The way this story just keeps evolving stuns me - in the best possible way. When I read your post I was so excited I got to the end and my shoulders dropped. I wanted it to go on forever! Haha. OH, and while I think of it... Mark's dead now? I mean well-and-truly dead? Whie I can't say I'm shocked I am a bit nervy as to the who business... Corey's suddenly gone from a level-headed guy to another one of these 'shifty' characters, and let's face it in this current climate that's pretty much the norm anyway - can't trust anyone can we?
So... I believe I am next in line now huh or do you have anything else you wish to add??
-- Edited by Ravynlee on Friday 12th of June 2009 12:13:26 PM
(does that not confuse you, having one character with 2 names? *shrugs* seems to work at the moment anyway) Strangely enough it doesn't - I kind of thought it would, but since Dean's the only one who thinks of her as Jamie, I'm able to keep my head on straight. Writing in first person helps. If I was in third looking over her shoulder all the time, I'd never know what to call her. Heheh.
I have to admit, I almost wanted Rae to stay preggers and breathe new hope into this helpless existence I thought of that (one of the many things I considered), but a real pregnancy would just take so long. I thought about speeding it up through either some hare-brained scheme of Doc M's or a more tame sort of mutation, but in the end I just had to throw in something totally new and different, and stretch my Weirdness Muscle. Besides, having a zombie-ish thing that was potentially on the good guys' side (up to you if you want to change that) was just too good to pass up
Funny Doc M kind of reminded me of The Professor from Futurama mixed with a surly Trent Reznor. Ahahahahah! Well, now, you're not too far off the mark there. I did draw off my nerdism of all things NIN and Trent Reznor and listened to Downward Spiral for most of this section. (As an example or the nerdism, Trent Reznor's first name is actually Michael, hence Doc M). I didn't expect to get caught, though! Hahah. Nice.
OH, and while I think of it... Mark's dead now? I mean well-and-truly dead? We're writing about zombies. How often can anyone be called well and truly dead? But for all intents and purposes, yes, dead as a doornail.
And yup, it's all yours now. Looking forward to it
You crack me up! I never knew that about Mr Reznor! Haha, there ya go! Sweet. Now as far as things being completely dead, you've got a point. Maybe with all of this tension and arguing the troupe back home may have 'forgotten' about burying the dead Mark and he may just jump back up again and chow down - lord knows anything's possible at this point. And while I'm not really comfortable with 3rd person VP either, I had been erring on the side of caution whether to go back and forth between camps like you have or just reunite them and take it from there. This whole um... 'thing' thing (XD) I'm leaving alone for the moment - until needed. I'm not 100% sure still what to make of 'that' other than Rae should never have sex again, ever! *lol for real* But joking aside, I was curious as to what Doc M's plans were with it... And again, at this point the less we probably know the safer (or saner, where appropriate) we all are. He doesn't strike me as the 'sharing' type anyway... Returning to camp, (or not, I'm still weighing this up) I wasn't sure on how many people were left standing - hence my question. I guess it's up to me now to make something of it...
*insert evil laughter here*
I've got the night off. Let's see if I can do something constructive with it. Start penning soon.
Double Post. Enough time (12+ hours) has passed, I reckon I can get away with it ;)
SPOILER ALERT !! - Don't read this post if you haven't read the update yet!! XD
*Ahem* So as you've probably noticed by now I've updated. About 15 word pages on my system, but it's still probably not as impressive as your last few posts Jess. Having said that I left it in a pickle. I introduced a new character in 'Mike' with the 3 of us plus him stuck in the service station in a sandstorm surrounded by zombies. It's not exactly what I had in mind to leave you with, I had fully intended to write more on this but as I have a party to go to tonight, and it's just after 1:30am now - almost 2:00, I figured I'd best just stop and let you carry on if you feel that way inclined. Entirely up to you. I was thinking of a few possible scenarios to follow;
- One; Doc M's 'pets' emerge under the cover of 'darkness' and save the day
- two; the sandstorm briefly covers the zombies enough for the troupe to get away (probably not feasable given the sand may have screwed the mechanics in the van's engine) - also using Rae's bloodied jersey as a 'white rabit' to hold them off, and
- three; the rest of the team from The Park arrive guns blazing and save the day. This may be because Mark-zombie and/or river zombies attacked and took with it a few of Corey's dogs and now The Park has been breached they had to get out. Amy/Corey brought them here. Disoriented by the storm they thought it best to wait out at the service station or may have been delayed and don't arrive until the group inside (Trinity, Rae etc) exahust themselves taking out as many zombies as they find. I'm not sure which way it will go quite honestly - I'm getting too tired to think rationally at the moment - and as I said I've got a big day ahead.
So I was thinking that Mike, the character, may be a temporary one. If he doesn't sacrifice himself in some heroic way (and why would he except to be with his lost wife of whom he spoke of) then I was thinking of keeping him a freelance character and have him say 'thanks but no thanks' to The Park's eventual reunion and head off into the sunset. It's feasable not ALL survivors want to return to a social experiement of sorts. Of course, if you get to write this next part because you're sick of waiting for me or you have something in mind you want to share, then feel free to do with him as you see fit. To me he was a filler character but necessary I thought - we gave Rae a past, a postscript about side effects from this Gas Z, and a chance for Trinity to show off a fraction more of her fierce 'enhanced' nature. I was wary to suggest he might have known Doc M because I want to keep Doc M with a degree of mystery and Mike's a kind of vagabond now going from place to place living, as he kind of put it, like an animal. He just happened to be in the wrong place so to speak at the wrong time. Long odds but I guess it's always possible. I also thought it was nice to see a small glimpse of 'normality' in these survivors - most are dangerous types or implied as such - and Mike's an average joe trying to get by one day to the next on his own. Anyway, that was my reasoning behind the post.
As I said I did have more I could say but nothing I have written and as it stands for at least the next 24 hours I'll be out of time. If you get bored or want to, feel free to continue. If not I will, doesn't bother me one iota either way. Just letting you know where my head was at, was all. Hope you enjoy =)

Read it twice, writing right now. I can't quite decide where I want to go - damn you and your good ideas :p But next time you log in, I should have something up.
EDIT: Up. Sorry, I got distracted by TV for a couple hours, and the end is kind of rushed because I was just so darn eager *eyeroll* but it's up. One, fairly long, post.
Oh oh oh, and, I have to do it -Page Four! Woo for us!

I laughed out loud literally at the Romeo and Juliet part - now that was clever! Haha, befitting wasn't it? The part about Trinity's eyes was unexpected, well done, I can use my shock as the reader to reflect Rae's reaction to that, and see what we can bring from that. As far as Rae's child *lol* is concerned, I was almost certain 'it' was there somewhere, so when the Doc showed up I was almost thinking 'About frickin' time!' haha. Aww I have to admit though having the whole group back together was a real moment of relief as far as reading it goes. There's something about this little community we've created, as dysfunctional as it may be, it was a rare feel-good moment to see them all come back together in spite of the horror and carnage around them. As for Mike, that was well done. His departure was better done than anything I'd been thinking - now we'll never know whether he was bit, whether he'd just been a coward, or whether there's something more to him as with everyone else - unless we cross paths again - and now at least the option's there in the future should we need him again - in whatever 'form' that fits *insert evil chuckle here* hehe
So yeah, wow that was fast! You really were into it huh? I'm sitting here wondering if I can quickly scratch something out before I head out. I've got about 4 hours up my sleeve I think. I'll see what I can come up with and try and post even a little bit before I go - unless you're still going on this - are you? Anyway, every little bit helps, huh? Freakin' sweet. ;)
Nah, I figured this would be a goos place for me to stop - let you cover Rae and David's reunion without too much trouble, and cover the explanation of what's been going down at the Park if you're so inclined. I made sure to leave it unclear on that front, too, so you can warp it any way you see fit.
I was going to put the thing (capital T? Heck it needs a name) in the battle scene there, but tbh I got distracted and forgot to. So I just had it escape instead. 'Course I also almost forgot the bit about Mike, but I wasn't letting that slip Having him just die wouldn't've gelled with the more uplifting attitude I was kinda going for here.
So anyway yeah, go ahead. As always, looking forward to it.
Anyway, point is that's it from me today. Covered a few things but not everything. I did try and leave you with a few things to work with Jess, and maybe DL if he ever gets past the lurking/reading stage again. Hope it's enough. Enjoy!
EDIT:
As for the 'thing's' name *lol* I've been trying to think of something strangely befitting an 8 foot mutant hybrid 'child' that Rae doesn't know is an 8 foot mutant hybrid 'child' *lmao* I mean a name she would think to give her child if indeed she were to bury her 'stillborn' and human child. I've got nothing right now so unless you can think of something or put words into David's mouth that will make that workable I don't know what we're going to do on that score... *laughs again*
Creepy conversation that is... ^.^
-- Edited by Ravynlee on Saturday 13th of June 2009 03:14:00 PM
Er, Rav - problem. You've penned that Amy was stabbed in the face; she was stabbed in her side (although dammit, if I'd thought of that I would've done it. Better symbolism and whatnot. Can't edit it now though). Oh and for some reason I couldn't help but picture them all sitting 'round a big campfire in that last scene Ya never know.
Creepy conversation? Yes, yes it was. Hahah. But a random idea would be to name it Rob Jr. - David might not like it too much but it would seem to fit with Rae's way of thinking. Though, now I think about it, she never asked if she had a son or a daughter. Something to include in the next post, maybe.
DL - if you're reading and I hope you are - shall I wait for you or go on? If you're ready to join back in, I'll send the troupe on back to the Park, but if not I'll come up with some other fun thing for them to do. (Fun - heeheeheeh... Ahem). Or of course if you're going to write yourself back in some other way, I'll take them elsewhere. Either way, I'll wait for the word before I start writing.
Problem is fixified - even better, it's fixed! (I hope) - again, sorry bout that. I maybe should pay more attention to the finer details - she reads the word blood and she gets all excited *lol* But not really...
hehe
Hrm. Now you mention the campfire thing, that WAS in essence the layout I had in mind - only thing is we are not allowed/recommended by DL at the start to go randomly lighting fires - the air is in bad enough condition as it is and all that. But as I wrote it I almost had this notion of Jill being the commander drawing a plan of attack in the sand... it might happen and it might not. I didn't mention it because... I didn't get to that ;) *lol*
IF you decide to continue/get bored waiting for word back from DL/get the go ahead, then that may be something small to play with. I just figured since we've all broken off into 'alliances' again that one thing we wouldn't do in the scene of a recent attack is all sit together facing the one way, we have to be all over the place and facing in every direction as some kind of paranoid yet alert unit - at least that was the plan anyway. Subtle? Perhaps. No matter.
As for um 'Rob Jr' *lol again* I did surprisingly think of that. Rae's problem is, as I stated with Mike, she willingly accepts David might be the father but she's not ready to let Rob go - or at least to see what she hoped was one last part of him left in the world uncorrupted (incorrupted? Damn you writing tests! You make me paranoid now! haha) to die. Hm. The names part I don't know. I was caught up in this corny idea of going all 'promise of a new world' vibe with things like Hope and so on *gag* (no offence to persons out there with that name, naturally ;)) but I really couldn't see anything I name it fitting quite frankly. Problem is I see it as a 'thing' and not 'her baby' so to me I'm like 'Kill it! Kill it! Get it away from me! Aargh!' *lmao* I'll have to work around that I suppose. Haha. But yeah... I was rushing. Dunno why now. Just found out my ride won't be here for another hour or so most likely, dagnammit. No matters....
-- Edited by Ravynlee on Saturday 13th of June 2009 04:53:57 PM
I can just imagine Trinity's reaction if Rae does decide to name her child Hope or Faith or Prosperity or somesuch. Ahem, but, I thought I would do some research and try to find some vaguely mythical name for it - some sort of a legendary half-angel half-devil type of thing - that Doc M would call it. Wouldn't really help Rae any, but I got distracted by something shiny anyhow. *innocent whistling*
I was also thinking that the group might split up again. If DL does choose not to write himself in at this point, they might decide to, at least temporarily - after all Rae and Amy aren't in fighting condition and Corey's not much good sans canines - abandon the Park. Since they're a fairly big group of people, finding homes for them all (heh, I sound like I'm talking about an animal shelter) mightn't be easy. Some of them might be welcomed by Doc M, but not all. Dean, Trinity, David and Rae might even be content to become travellers again. But anyway, I suppose we'll cross\burn that bridge when we come to it.
This point about abandoning The Park, at least temporarily might make some sense. If the group 'split up' in essence to find Jason and Leon before they even get to the infected hot-zone that gives us all just-cause to go our separate ways - at least to some degree. Since the story is The Park I guess technically at some point we will have to return to it, but even for now, if Jill and co for example head off to find where they think the radio transmission roughly originated from, DL has the luxury of only writing about 3 or so people instead of a whole tribe of us, most of whom he's never seen in his (virtual) life!
This of course may leave Keith, Amy and Corey to separate from the pack too. Though unless Trinity or Dean say or do something to calm Rae's overactive imagination down, I can't see Rae willingly wanting to stick with Trinity and Dean - unless of course David thought it was best and naturally she'd not go anywhere without him *ahem* (fangirlism is alive and well I notice XD) - So then you and I, Jess, have only 4 or so people to write about too, until DL comes back in, and IF he reunites himself with Jill and Wesker and they head back to The Park we can decide to go back - or we may get sidetracked on a spin-off quest of our own - we have Trinity's missing years to fill and Rae's child to find, AND we have the mysterious Doc M there now on the sidelines kind of overseeing much of this, he could be fun to play with too XD
Just thinking aloud is all. I do that. I may not be hyperactive physically but I AM hyperactive in the mind... apparently haha.
Hmm, true, by this point Rae is fairly freaked out by Trinity and possibly Dean simply by association. The problem is that if our two characters end up separated by great distances for a long amount of time, there's not going to be any overlap, and that kind of defeats the whole community story thing. Hm hm hm.
Here's an idea. Doc M will agree to take them in on a condition - that they help him search for a *ahem* escaped lab experiment. He's also willing to house Rae and Amy since they're both injured - if nothing else he will need to stitch Rae back up (and who knows, maybe there's some story with him and Amy ). That gives us a sort of surrogate Park for the time being as well as a short-term goal. Best part is, I can plow on ahead here with or without DL's commentary, since like I said Rae does need some medical attention soon-ish.
Having said that, of course, some of this is still up to you, DL.
On the name ... I suck at research, but thus far the best thing I've found is Taijitu, the proper name for what's generally called the ying-yang symbol. Not what I had in mind, but eh, whatever.
What has to be decided, at least in ths short term, is who's headed back to The Park, who (if anyone) is going to go looking for Jason and Leon, and who's going back to the Doc's place - aside from the given two, Rae and Amy?
Rae goes, David goes, Amy goes, I assume Keith and Corey go (why do I always type Keithe with the extra 'e' at the end? Hmm, damn you brain sometimes) and it seems Doc's intrigued enough about Trinity so she'd go and then so will Dean. That leaves only Wesker and Jill doesn't it, originally DL's creations. So if they head off to look for him we don't in essence NEED the overlap, at least not yet. The stories can co-exist providing there is little to no communication between them otherwise it becomes a game of matching times and events etc, and that's too much really.
I think for all intents and purposes we can send a few away for aforementioned purpose and concentrate then on a select few. When DL comes back we'll head back to The Park and reunite. This is essence is as good as he's going to get as a clean slate - like it was in the beginning - before the rest of us come trapsing back. That has to at least be something for DL to think about, does it not?
EDIT: Oh as for the name, not really something I can comment on. You know more about these things than I do, and if you so choose it, with Trinity and her 'abilities' etc (and the past etc we know really so little of, it's sketchy at best if we take Dean's word for it) then Trinity herself can work through all this extra 'homework' herself with Dean with or without the Doc's help/guidance to see what they're all up against... Just a thought really. Doesn't need to be anything concrete right now. No one else but her and the Doc in that small group (and Keith of course) really know anything about it. You've got that luxury, remember?

All righty then. I'll get to typing. Have it up sometime tomorrow - right now it's just about time for me to pretend I'm not naturally nocturnal *grumble*
